In early 2022, at the height of Covid, we moved to Kanazawa, the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture, the place where Kazuko grew up. Out daughter, Kasumi, was only 4 years old at the time, but immediately took to her Japanese roots

 

After renting for a couple years in the heart of Kanazawa, and conducting an exhaustive search for a home of our own in every corner of Ishikawa, we eventually hit gold and purchased a 100-year old Kominka in the quaint countryside village of Kawai-machi, part of Hakusan city, where traditions thrive, people actively farm the land, and local festivals remain an important part of everyday life.
